Conference materials gathered by Patricia Freeman from NAACP West Coast Regional Conferences (1977-1987), NAACP Region 1 Leadership Conferences (1972-1988), and NAACP Northern Area Conferences (1974-1987); NAACP Region 1 annual reports (1974-1982); Freeman's subject files, including files on ACT-SO, the development of youth councils, the El Cerrito Youth Council, education, the Oakland police, the Richmond police, the Southern Alameda Youth and College Chapter of the NAACP, NAACP newsletters from 1945, Virna Canson (Director of Region 1 of the NAACP), youth policy, and Youthlines newsletter and radio show. There is also a draft of Freeman's NAACP Youth and College Manual, which was published in 1986.

Patricia Freeman was president of the El Cerrito branch of the NAACP from 1972 to 1976. Prior to her involvement in the NAACP, Freeman was active in other East Bay community organizations, including the Kensington Community Council, the League of Women Voters, and the Hilltop Women's Democratic Club. She formed the El Cerrito Youth Council of the NAACP in 1974 and served as Northern California Youth Advisor for from 1978 to 1984. In the mid-1980s, Freeman became an advocate for the NAACP's ACT-SO program (Afro-Academic Cultural Technological and Scientific Olympics), a scholarship program intended to identify and celebrate educational excellence among African-American youth.
